Scott has created a beautiful example of complimentary contrasts with this latest sculpture. "Balanced" displays one side that is painstakingly hand-polished while the other remains in a natural, rough state. Adding to the beauty of this sculpture, Scott carved it from Calacatta marble, one of the most sought after of the Italian marbles.
The marble first brought to us by Michelangelo, Calacatta Marble is a luxury stone that is exceptional in appearance. Its rarity results from the fact that it is only available from one quarry in the world, located in Carrara, Italy, where its production is limited and well-controlled, which lend to the rarity, and expense, of this high-end stone. Calacatta Marble is distinctive with its thick, bold veining and soothing white background. In fact, the whiter the background, the more expensive and desirable this marble gets.
